The role:

Our Surgical Nursing team gain exposure working in our Surgical Department and alongside our ECC, Anaesthesia and Medical Oncology teams. We are experts in soft-tissue surgery (cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal and urinary tract), surgical oncology, orthopaedic surgery, total hip replacements, neurosurgery and minimally invasive surgery. As a valued team member, you will also perform anaesthesia and enhance your knowledge and capability by working with and alongside two European Diplomats in Anaesthesia.

You will be expected to deliver a high level of nursing care to all patients across a rotating roster with approximately 1 in 4-weekend cover. You possess high-quality skills in understanding & monitoring anaesthesia. You will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both in a team and autonomously. Ventilator knowledge is advantageous but not essential – training will be provided.

Ideal candidate:

  • Certificate IV or equivalent qualification
  • 2-3 years’ experience is preferential – but all nurses are welcome to apply
  • A professional and positive demeanour
  • Ability to work efficiently with initiative in a face-paced environment
  • Exceptional organisational skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing procedures
  • High proficiency in monitoring anaesthesia
