Dr. Emily Li brings exceptional expertise in stabilising critically ill patients, with particular strengths in managing respiratory failure, shock, and endocrine emergencies. Her meticulous approach to patient care and special interest in electrolyte management, mechanical ventilation, and transfusion medicine will significantly enhance our ability to care for your most critical referrals.

As a board-certified ECC specialist, Dr. Li will strengthen multiple stages of patient care – from emergency stabilisation through post-operative recovery – creating a seamless bridge between our emergency, specialist anaesthesia & surgical services.

After completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Melbourne, Dr. Li built a solid foundation in general practice before discovering her passion for emergency medicine during a rotating internship at the University of Sydney. Following two years as an emergency veterinarian and clinical tutor at the University of Melbourne, she completed a three-year residency in veterinary emergency and critical care through the University of Sydney and the Small Animal Specialist Hospital.

Having successfully earned her DACVECC certification, Dr. Li is delighted to be returning to Melbourne to join our team. When she’s not busy saving lives, Emily has the most delightful food obsession – hunting down amazing restaurants in every city and recreating magic in her own kitchen. “Cooking is my meditation,” she laughs. We have a feeling team dinners are about to get seriously upgraded! Plus, she’s all about lifting others up – from mentoring future vets to helping translate life-saving CPR guidelines into Chinese so veterinarians worldwide can provide better care.
