Valentine is an EBVS® European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and a registered specialist in both Europe and Australia. She joined Southpaws in September 2025 as a Specialist Surgeon and is delighted to be part of the collaborative and supportive referral environment.

After relocating to Australia, Valentine quickly fell in love with Melbourne and the wider Victorian region — for its relaxed and positive culture, outstanding food scene, and strong outdoor lifestyle. Outside of work, she enjoys running and spending time at the beach with her Weimaraner, Natsu, embracing the social and active way of life that Australia offers.

Valentine graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine before completing a university-based rotating internship at the École Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort (Paris, France). She then undertook a specialised surgical internship at the CENTREDMVEt in Montreal, Canada, a large multidisciplinary private referral hospital, followed by a second specialised surgical internship at the École Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon (France).

She completed her residency in small animal surgery at the University of Liege Teaching Hospital in Belgium, where she was actively involved in teaching and mentoring veterinary students, and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in 2025.

Alongside her clinical training, Valentine completed a Master’s degree in Biomechanics and a Master’s degree in Neurosciences, reflecting her interest in a holistic approach to surgical care. She has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications across a range of disciplines.

Valentine enjoys a broad surgical caseload, including soft tissue and oncologic surgery, orthopaedics, and neurosurgery.
